Scene - 1.4 Guide to the Stratford Creative and Media Scene (Voice of Africa Radio Script)

Voice of Africa Radio Script

Hi my name’s Humaira and I’m going to be talking to you about VOAR.

Voice Of Africa Radio is located on 173 Plaistow Road in London.

It’s a radio station that entertains people by playing African music and broadcasting the latest news in Africa.

This radio station is a receiving house because they get African music and play it on there radio station. They don’t make there own music or anything because if they did they would have been a producing house.

The radio station began broadcasting as a pirate station in January 2000, but was forced off the air while it required certification from Ofcom.

It came back in 2005 and it secured a digital FM licence and they became very successful because more people knew them and they started to become well-known.

Now this is the only African station to do so in the UK and can now also be found on Sky Digital.

Tune in to 94.3FM if you would like to hear Voice Of Africa Radio.
